6th National Public Service Broadcasting Day organised in Jaipur

A workshop was organized on the eve of “Broadcasting Day” on 11th November 2005 by the Jaipur Chapter of BES(I). The topic of the workshop was  “Effect of Electronic Media on Society”.
It was well attended by Programme and Engineering Staff of AIR & Doordarshan and also media experts of the town.  The general consensus was that the private channels are spoiling the ethos and culture of a country like India.  Doordarshan has a special responsibility in this scenario to safeguard the rich heritage and culture of the country.
A few speakers pointed out that Doordarshan is lagging in the competition and could not come up to the expectations of the viewers.  More socially relevant progrmmes are to be created by Doordarshan looking to the taste of viewers and demand of time.
Challenges before the technology were also emphasized in the workshop.  It was argued in the workshop that the speed introduction of new technology in Doordarshan is to be increased substantially so as to coup with other channels.  At the end, the Treasurer Shri M.C.Paliwal proposed a vote of thanks to the members in these lively discussions.
